We are on the morning of the fourth day and after a good breakfast we directed to the bus stop until we arrive to British Columbia University! (http://www.ubc.ca/).
It 's amazing to get there, surrounded by greenery, really a dream!
The first time you enter into an American university seem to be in a movie ..
It's located to the west of Kits on a wooded peninsula and is the largest in the province, around the campus there are all lands donated to university riches not only of forests but also of beaches, then I'll show you.
First you have to visit the rose garden, really beautiful and spectacular (I do not think there is a better term) during the flowering period. Also the view is great, I would really described you better but the only way is to see it!
Judge for yourself :)
Among the other things, the campus has a wonderful shop full of items and designer clothes UBC, I could not resist to bought the very warm Varsity's sweartshirts.
The Museum of Anthropology (tel. 604-822-3825; 6393) is really great, one of the richest and most complete collections of aboriginal's objects of northwest coast of Canada. Tickets cost $ 10 (for adults and less for children) and definitely worth them all. It is a journey through the history of a country infortunately often understimated precisely from this point of view.
The Totem can wonder at the background, behind a large glass wall, with a view of a beautiful mountainous promontory.
To those who say or think that Canada has not a very interesting story just advise to take a walk in the museum, read the descriptions below the magnificent photographs exposed, breathing air rich of culture and stories; I am sure that will change their mind.
We came back to town to lunch time and we waited for our Canadian friends known on the plane for Vancouver, which would show us the city through his eyes, inevitably experience very special. We met near a beautiful fountain which I have unfortunately only the photo of the base, and once in the car led us around the multi-ethnic neighborhoods, most original of the city!
Shortly before going to the restaurant gave us a gift. She led us to a bar in the Italian community, where, once the owners have discovered that we were Italian, it seemed really to be in the family, and not distant thousands of miles from home, the feeling was incredible.
After a chat and to be informed on the results of the Italian national football team at Euro 2008, we thanked him for his hospitality and we directed, all three, to a fabulous vegetarian Indian restaurant! Colinne talked us a lot about herself, his work and his country, was very interesting. She led us around the neighborhood, showing us the most unusual houses, schools and gardens filled with flowers.
In the afternoon we are back in the car and we made a trip to China Town, the third for dimension in North America. The colors, images, smells and the buildings guess us to imagine the history of this part of town.
Since you're in China Town, do not miss the Chinatown Millennium Gate (between W Pender St and Taylor St), a door which is three stories high which is one of the access to the neighborhood.
Non ho resistito a fare qualche foto ai grattaceli in città.
I could not resist to make some pictures of the skyscrapers in the city.
Of course you will have occasion to note the copper roofs that, with the passing of time became turquoise.
The public library is also called the "Colosseum" because of typical Roman form. It was completed in 1995 and is the result of the combination of two buildings, a central with elliptical form and a lateral one, half-ellipse, with different heights. If you have some time to go visit it.
In the evening, really tired for the long but beautiful day, after a good dinner we rearranged the luggage because, the next morning, we would direct to Nanaimo, a town on Vancouver Island.
As soon I go on with my story!
