We have been dedicated one of the last day of this journey to a wonderful adventure
visiting the Everglades.
Shoulders burned from the sun, backpack, sunscreen and sunglasses .. we're back on the Jeep headed for something really unexpected, you're curious? Meanwhile, perhaps I should explain you something about it.
So, we are precisely at 'Everglades National Park. It is a wonder subtropical designated "World Heritage" and "biosphere reserve", has a unique value is recognized throughout the world.
The Everglades are a stream called the River of Grass, originated south of Orlando in Kisseemmee River Basin, the river flowed through the famous Lake Okeechobee until it reaches the sea. Most of the Everglades have been altered by human intervention, the entire area, twice the size of Luxembourg, has been maintained for future generations by the population of the United States and it was given the name of Everglades National Park.
In 1992 the area was hit by Hurricane Andrew, which caused many changes, even if nature has the amazing ability to recover quickly, for a specified period not all the structures built by 'men were always available, even if the work were carried out as quickly as possible.
I honestly do not know if there are structures in the reconstruction, but we have not encountered.
Throughout the park you can find rangers in the tourist centers ready to help, to organize better your visit.
The main tourist center is located 17 km southwest of Homestead on Route 9336, you will find for sale books and creams against insect bites, for examples.
Birdwatching is very popular thanks to the large amount of birds, have been recorded more than 300 species.
The paths can vary, for walks easier or more difficult, respectively, from 400 meters to 24 kilometers, while the bike trails ranging from three to 24 km and can be rented at the shop Shark Valley and at Flamingo Marina Store.
The seaplane tours are not allowed in the park as much afraid of the animals and destroy the vegetation.
You can choose among many paths, trails and observation points for canoes and probably you will not know where to start there is so much to see!!
If you decide to stop here, you can enjoy camping or other types of accommodation, but during the summer the 'high number of mosquitoes can make the camp an' unpleasant experience.
